Public shelter - Spain
February 21, 2012 - Several neighbors have complained to the City Council the on status of this shelter. These municipal or privately-run enclosure for abandoned dogs and cats are pure storage. These enclosures can be found everywhere in Spain. The animals are rarely adopted but must live in a sterile and boring environment, without exercise, activities or social contact with people. Many dogs get depressed and fading away. Other enclosures can be managed very poorly and the animals may starve and live in their own feces - but the most common is that dogs are killed ... in loads.
This Dog Shelter in The Canary Islands (Spain) has over 300 Dogs - they get 25 or more new dogs each and every single day. 1-3 of these 25 new dogs that come in each day is Podenco Canario and almost no Podencos get adopted.
This video is to show people all over the world how a dog shelter looks like in Spain (and this is one of the good ones). And the huge number of dogs that has to be put out due to the constant stream of new incoming dogs each day.
