A 32-year-old chimpanzee named Iris was treated like a prisoner at Chestatee Wildlife Preserve & Zoo in Georgia.
A kind PETA member helped PETA save Iris from this hellhole on March 3, 2015, and she was soon transported to Save the Chimps—where she’ll get to live out the rest of her days in the company of other chimpanzees and enjoy sunlight, fresh air, and plenty of lush green surroundings!

Just days after arriving at Save the Chimps, she was introduced to another rescued chimpanzee named Abdul, and they immediately became besties, panting and hooting with delight, exchanging kisses and hugs, and grooming each other like old friends. Normally, such introductions take months, but for Iris and Abdul, it was love at first sight!
